Resumo: Yellow longhorned borer Phoracantha recurva was found in logs of Eucalyptus urophylla clones at the Companhia Mineira de Metais (CMM-AGRO) in Vazante county , State of Minas Gerais, Brazil, in October of 2005. This quarentenary pest, originating from Australia and New Guinea, was detected in the State of São Paulo, Brazil, in 2001. Damage by P. recurva was characterized by the mining at the bark-cambium-xylem of eucalyptus trees. These trees stayed ring-barking for eight months in the field. The damage reduced the quality and processing of the wood. The number of logs infested varied significantly between different tree clones, except in clone 36 that showed resistance to the longhorned borer attack.
