Resumo: The article investigates the reality of basic education with a focus on assessment and equity in times of the covid-19 pandemic. The text brings bibliographical references by authors and researchers in the educational area, such as: Libâneo (1990), Luckesi (1994) and Hoffmann (2005), as well as proposals for normative documents of Brazilian education. It also addresses and analyzes assessment and equity in basic education as a challenge and work for teachers, the role of the school, family and government. In light of the data, we emphasize that the current scenario of Brazilian education is below expectations, as the country needs to make much progress in the democratization of education and increase investments in education and technology.

O texto traz referências bibliográficas de autores e pesquisadores na área educacional, como: Libâneo (1990), Luckesi (1994) e Hoffmann (2005), como também propostas de documentos normativos da educação brasileira. Também aborda e analisa a avaliação e a equidade na educação básica como desafio e trabalho dos professores, papel da escola, família e governo.
