The Web is an essential resource widely used by various organizations, affecting the lives of countless people. Thus, it is essential to ensure that Websites are accessible in order for people with disabilities to enjoy all its benefits. Many studies have been dedicated to investigate Web accessibility issues for users with visual or motor disabilities. However, few studies have addressed the accessibility for users with specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia. Furthermore, few tools provide support for dyslexic users during reading and browsing in Web content. The present study aimed to investigate the main requirements from problems encountered by users with dyslexia in related studies in the literature, in order to implement a prototype extension for Web browser that offers customization features of Web pages. For the development of the extension, a literature review was performed, focusing studies involving dyslexic users, guidelines focused on dyslexic users and a comparison of existing tools and extensions. Following, we performed the design, implementation and a preliminary user evaluation of the extension involving one user with dyslexia. The work resulted in the implementation of a prototype with satisfactory results containing customization features of Web pages, and positive results obtained in the preliminary evaluation. The extension implemented have important features that have potential to aid dyslexic users during reading and navigation in Websites. Future work will add new features to meet different needs encountered by dyslexic users.
