Resumo: The objective of the present work was to diagnose the environmental impacts provoked by the visiting in the Smoke Fall Complex in the town of Carrancas / MG, to study the visitors´ profi le of this locality and propose mitigating measures of the diagnosed environmental impacts. As a methodology, for the characterization of the profi le of the visitors, the application of “survey” was utilized, in the trails, measures of breadth and length, georeferencing, risk point analysis, status of conservation and scene beauty were performed; in the infrastructure, location, dimension, state of conservation and harmonization with environment were evaluated, the waters of the Falls were analyzed according to the resolutions of CONAMA numbers 274 and 357. The methodology utilized proved effective to reach the objectives proposed. Mitigating measures for the environmental impacts detected and alternatives to improve environmental conservation with increased economic and social inclusion of the local community, consistent with the objectives of sustainability pursued by eco-tourism are proposed. Como metodologia utilizou-se para a caracterização do perfil dos visitantes a aplicação de “survey”; nas trilhas foram realizadas medições de largura e comprimento, georeferenciamento, análises de pontos de risco, estado de conservação e beleza cênica; na infra-estrutura avaliou-se localização, dimensão, estado de conservação e harmonização com o ambiente; a água das cachoeiras foi analisada de acordo com as resoluções do CONAMA nos 274 e 357. A metodologia utilizada mostrou-se eficiente para se atingir os objetivos propostos. Sugere-se medidas mitigadoras para os impactos ambientais detectados e propõe se alternativas para melhorar a conservação ambiental, com maior inclusão econômica e social da comunidade local, coerentes aos objetivos de sustentabilidade perseguidos pelo ecoturismo.
