Especificamente, pretendeu-se analisar os possíveis fatores que influenciam a estrutura de dependência espacial da característica volume, obtida a partir de informações de inventários florestais em diferentes idades e regiões e comparar, com base no erro de amostragem, a Amostragem Casual Simples e a Amostragem Casual Estratificada, sendo a estratificação realizada por meio dos interpoladores espaciais Inverso do Quadrado da Distância (IQD) e Krigagem. Os dados utilizados foram provenientes de inventários convencionais realizados nos anos de 2006 e 2007, em uma área de 9.796,6 hectares, localizados nos municípios de Curvelo, João Pinheiro e Montes Claros, Minas Gerais. Os resultados mostraram que o modelo esférico foi selecionado em 72% dos casos, sendo que houve um equilíbrio entre os métodos de ajuste dos Quadrados Mínimos Ordinários e Máxima Verossimilhança para estudo da continuidade espacial da característica volume. Dos cinquenta projetos, 64% apresentaram grau de dependência espacial de médio a forte, evidenciando que o uso de métodos geoestatísticos possibilita redução no erro sem aumento de custo no inventário. Com a base de dados cadastrais, não houve uma variável a ser apontada como determinante da dependência espacial. Assim, a continuidade espacial para a característica volume em eucalipto é um fenômeno aleatório para esta intensidade amostral, indicando que, para qualquer base de dados de inventário florestal, as análises estatísticas devem ser precedidas de um estudo variográfico, com o intuito de verificar a existência de estrutura de continuidade espacial. A utilização do interpolador geoestatístico nos projetos que apresentaram de média a forte DE, contribuiu para uma redução média de 47,0% e 65,7% no erro de amostragem, respectivamente. Mesmo nos projetos onde a estrutura de dependência espacial se manifestou, a estratificação com base no interpolador IQD gera melhoria das estimativas da ACE em relação à ACS.This study investigated the possible factors that affect the structure of spatial continuity of dendrometric characteristics in eucalypt plantation and verified the possibility of using this structure for the stratus definition in forest stands. Specifically, it analyzed the possible factors that influence the structure of spatial dependence of the volume, gotten from information of forest inventories in different ages and regions, and to compare, based on sampling error, Random Sampling Design and Stratified Sampling Design, carried out by the spatial interpolaters Inverse Square of Distance (IQD) and Krigage. The data were obteined from conventional inventories in 2006 and 2007, in an area of 9,796.6 ha, located in Curvelo, João Pinheiro and Montes Claros Counties, Minas Gerais. The results showed that the spherical model was selected in 72% of the cases and there was a balance between the adjustment methods of the Ordinary Least Square and Maximum Likelihood for studing the spatial continuity of the volume. 64% of the fifty projects presented spatial dependence degree (DE) from medium to higth, proving that the use of geostatistic methods makes possible the reduction in the error without increasing the inventory cost. Using the database of the cadastre, no variable can be pointed out as determinative of the spatial dependence. Therefore, the spatial continuity for the volume in eucalypt is a random phenomenon for this sampling intensity, indicating that, for any database of forest inventory, the statistical analyzes must be preceeded by a variografic study, in order to verify the existence of structure of spatial continuity. The use of the geoestatistic interpolater in the projects that presented medium to high DE, contributed to an average reduction of 47,0% and 65,7% in the sampling error, respectively.
