Toma como unidade de análise a Microrregião Homogênea de Capelinha (MRH 31011), quantificando a geração de emprego, renda e produto do reflorestamento na MRH, comparando-a com outros usos da terra (agricultura familiar, cafeicultura e pecuária). Analisa a influência do reflorestamento sobre a distribuição de terras na microrregião e o posicionamento de atores da sociedade local sobre os impactos do reflorestamento na região. Pôde-se perceber pelas análises realizadas que o reflorestamento, em termos de geração de emprego, renda e produto para a região estudada mostrou-se pouco expressivo em relação à área que ocupa, ao passo que a agricultura familiar mostrou-se a atividade mais intensiva em ocupação de mão-de-obra e produtos para a MRH de Capelinha. Estes resultados permitem questionar a eficácia dos grandes projetos, como foi o caso dos incentivos fiscais ao reflorestamento, como propulsores efetivos de desenvolvimento, e vislumbrar a importância produtiva e ocupacional que a agricultura familiar - uma atividade considerada muitas vezes como apenas de subsistência - tem para a região do alto Jequitinhonha, e a necessidade de se encarar este setor do rural brasileiro como um potencial gerador de riquezas, e não apenas como um setor fragilizado que precisa de recursos financeiros para não sucumbir.This dissertation has as an objective to discusses reforestation as a development project for the area of the high Jequitinhonha, taking as unit of analysis the Homogeneous Micro-region of Capelinha (MRH 31011), quantifying the generation of employment, income and product of the reforestation in the MRH, comparing it with other land uses in the micro-region (family agriculture, coffee growing and livestock); analyzing the influence of reforestation on land distribution in the micro-region; and knowing the position of the actors of local society on the impacts of reforestation in the area. From the analyses done it could be noticed that reforestation, in terms of generation of employment, income and product for the studied area, was shown quite inexpressive in relation to the area that it occupies, while the family agriculture was shown the most intensive activity in labor occupation and products for MRH of Capelinha.
