Resumo: It aims to objectively rethink the high-performance sport as a work from the prospects of former high-performance athletes. We chose the qualitative research methodology with a multicase method with eleven in-depth interviews with ex-highperformance athletes, analyzed by content analysis. It is concluded that the work for ex-athletes should be rethought to the extent that there are characteristics of precariousness and child labor, as well as exploitation. It is evidenced through the interviews and bibliography that the athlete is treated as a commodity in sports contracts and that mega events are a decoy for the exploitation of the image through overexposure.

Opta-se pela metodologia qualitativa de pesquisa com método de multi casos com onze entrevistas em profundidade feitas com ex-atletas de alto rendimento, analisadas por análise de conteúdo. Conclui-se que o trabalho para ex-atletas deve ser repensado na medida em que há características de precarização e trabalho infantil, além de exploração.
