Resumo: Envisaging the possibility  to form a cluster of sawn wood industries in Lavras - Minas Gerais, this identified and described the plans adopted by the companies and  proposed courses of actions in order to  develop the sector . It was noticed that the size of the companies as well as their development level did not favor the accomplishment of the envisaged tasks in a cooperative way, but the stage of knowledge and the  disposition at the moment   was not favorable to assist that type of action.
