Four treatments was offer to the dogs, compound only from the cereal to be tested, over and above of the supplementation with 0,15% of mineral and vitamin premix. Was selected eight dogs of breed AMERICAN FOXHOUND, males, with similar age (3 years) and weight (32,0 kg + or - 2,4 Kg). Each treatment, in the total of four, was offer to two dogs per period, during four periods, in the total of the eight dogs per treatment. Each one of the four experimental periods was formed of five days. In the first three days of each period the animals received 500 grams of each treatment diluted in 500 ml of warm water until 36o degrees Celsius, on the feeding method for gastric intubation, daily, only once time. The feed was administrated over of a flexible tube (with 3/4 inch of diameter and 60 cm of length) introduced from the mouth until the stomach. During the final two days of each period the animals stayed with exclusively feeding by tube, and procedure the total faeces collection to evaluate the digestibility of the nutrients. In the samples of feeds and faeces were submitted to analysis of dry matter, crude fiber, crude fat, crude protein, crude ash, not nitrogen extractive and crude energy. The experimental design was in double latin square (four treatments, four periods and eight dogs) with a total of 32 experimental units and the means of digestibility coefficient of the various nutrients of the experimental treatments were compared by SNK. The results to the yellow corn without germ shown were apparent digestibility coefficients of the dry matter (ADCDM) = 67,82; of the organic matter (ADCOM) = 71,60; of the crude protein (ADCCP) = 69,95; of crude fat (ADCCFat) = 79,52. These results showed that the yellow corn without germ is a ingredient of lower nutritional value when compared with yellow corn (ADCDM, 82,28); (ADCOM, 87,19); (ADCCP, 73,28); (ADCCFat, 88,72), sorghum (ADCDM, 86,43), (ADCOM, 87,48); (ADCCP, 71,01); (ADCCFat, 86,88) and brewers rice (ADCDM, 95,00), (ADCOM, 95,62); (ADCCP, 82,57); (ADCFat, 92,66). Without significative differences (P<0,05) in the nutritional points between the yellow corn and the sorghum and the brewers rice showed the higher digestibility coefficient of the nutrients between the evaluated ingredients.O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a digestibilidade de matérias-primas de origem vegetal (milho, milho degerminado, sorgo e quirera de arroz) submetidas ao processamento de extrusão. Quatro tratamentos foram oferecidos aos cães, compostos unicamente do cereal a ser testado, além de suplementados com 0,15% de premix mineral vitamínico. Foram selecionados oito cães da raça FOXHOUND AMERICANO, machos, com idade de três anos e peso médio de 32,0 Kg + 2,4 Kg semelhantes. Cada tratamento, de um total de quatro, foi oferecido a dois cães, durante quatro períodos, perfazendo um total de oito cães por tratamento. Cada um dos quatro períodos experimentais foi constituído de cinco dias, em um total de vinte dias. Nos três primeiros dias de cada período os animais receberam 500 gramas de cada tratamento diluídos em 500 ml de água previamente aquecida a 36o C, utilizando o método de alimentação forçada por intubação gástrica, diariamente, de uma só vez. O alimento foi administrado através de um tubo de látex (com dimensão de 3/4 de polegada de diâmetro e 60 cm de comprimento), introduzido pela boca até o estômago. Durante os dois dias finais de cada período os animais continuaram a ser alimentados exclusivamente via tubo, e procedeu-se a coleta total de fezes para avaliação de digestibilidade dos nutrientes. Nas amostras de alimentos e fezes foram realizadas análises de matéria seca, fibra bruta, gordura em hidrólise ácida, proteína bruta, matéria mineral, extrativo não nitrogenado e energia bruta. O delineamento foi em duplo quadrado latino (quatro tratamentos, quatro períodos e oito cães) totalizando 32 unidades experimentais e as médias dos coeficientes de digestibilidade dos vários nutrientes dos tratamentos experimentais, foram comparados pelo teste SNK. Os resultados para o milho degerminado foram: coeficiente de digestibilidade aparente da matéria seca (CDAMS) = 67,82%; da matéria orgânica (CDAMO) = 71,60%; da proteína bruta (CDAPB) = 69,95%; da gordura em hidrólise ácida (CDAGHA) = 79,52%. Estes resultados mostram que o milho degerminado é um ingrediente de baixo valor nutricional quando comparado com o milho integral (CDAMS, 82,28); (CDAMO, 87,19); (CDAPB, 73,28); (CDAGHA, 88,72), sorgo (CDAMS, 86,43); (CDAMO, 87,48); (CDAPB, 71,01); (CDAGHA, 86,88) e quirera de arroz (CDAMS, 95,00); (CDAMO, 95,62); (CDAPB, 82,57); (CDAGHA, 92,66). Não houve diferenças significativas (P>0,05) entre o milho integral e o sorgo.
