Resumo: City squares present important roles in urban environment such as community integration and improvement of environmental quality. To analyze the actual situation of the Dr. Augusto Silva city square an evaluation of its characteristics and uses was performed through a qualitative analysis and a pool within its users. Urbanistic, physical aspects, and vegetation were evaluated using the qualitative analysis. The pool was applied in members of 600 families using a standardized questionnaire with direct and descriptive questions. The results showed that Dr. Augusto Silva is the most visited city square by residents of the entire town. The activities in this square are varied including rest and sportive practices even though it lacks some basic infrastructures. Based on the qualitative analysis it was observed that this square present a regular to good maintenance.

Based on the qualitative analysis it was observed that this square present a regular to good maintenance.As praças desempenham importantes funções no ambiente urbano, entre elas a integração da comunidade e melhoria da qualidade ambiental. Com a finalidade de se fazer uma análise da situação atual da Praça Dr. Augusto Silva visando às suas características e usos, foi feita uma avaliação da mesma mediante análise qualitativa e de pesquisa junto à população. Na análise qualitativa, foi avaliada uma série de itens, como: aspectos urbanísticos, físicos e a vegetação. A pesquisa de opinião foi aplicada em representantes de 600 famílias, por meio de um questionário padronizado com perguntas diretas e descritivas. Pelos resultados, verificou-se que a Praça Dr. Augusto Silva é a praça mais visitada da cidade, com freqüentadores oriundos de todos os bairros. As atividades realizadas nesse local são as mais diversas, desde descanso e contemplação, até atividades esportivas, apesar de a praça não possuir infra-estrutura para algumas dessas atividades.
