O biodiesel é um combustível feito a partir de óleos vegetais, óleos residuais e gorduras de origem animal misturados a um álcool de cadeia curta, metanol ou etanol, na presença de um catalisador. O pinhão-manso é uma cultura que está se tornando muito importante para o programa brasileiro de produção e uso do biodiesel pela sua produtividade, qualidade de seu óleo, capacidade de se desenvolver bem em regiões de clima semiárido. Um dos entraves para esta cultura é a colheita, pois ainda não existem tecnologias adequadas de mecanização para esta operação. A fase produtiva do pinhão-manso é muito extensa, podendo chegar de 4 a 5 meses, com maturação de frutos não uniforme. A colheita é feita convencionalmente, de forma manual. A mecanização agrícola já se mostrou muito eficiente para outras culturas, como café, algodão e soja, entre outros, fazendo diminuir custos e aumentar a capacidade de produção dos agricultores. A colheita mecanizada do pinhão-manso é uma alternativa para que se consiga aumentar sua área cultivada e diminuir os custos de produção. Este trabalho foi realizado com o objetivo de estabelecer parâmetros da planta de pinhão-manso necessários ao desenvolvimento de equipamentos de colheita mecânica por vibração.The increasing demand through renewable sources made Brazil to stand out in this sector with the production of alcohol and also the biodiesel one. Biodiesel is a fuel made from vegetable oils, residual oils and fats of animal origin mixed with short chain alcohol, methanol or ethanol, in the presence of a catalyst. The physic nut is a culture that has become important to the Brazilian production program and use of biodiesel by its productivity, quality of its oil, capacity of developing well in semiarid regions. One of the ties for this culture is the harvest due to the fact of not existing appropriate mechanization technologies yet for this operation. The productive period of physic nut is too long, reaching 4 to 5 months, with nonuniform fruit maturation. The harvest is conventionally made in a manual way. The agricultural mechanization already showed to be very efficient for other cultures, such as coffee, cotton, soybean among others, decreasing costs and increasing the production capacity of the farmers. The mechanized harvest of physic nut is an alternative to be able to increase its cultivated area and decrease its costs of production.
