Resumo: The present work aims to analyze the process of reference in multisemiotic texts. In addition to a theoretical discussion on referencing, four humorous strips were analyzed from Internet sites. Thus, this research points to the relevance assumed by the multisemiotic elements of reference in the construction and interpretation of the humor strips. The referents, besides retaking elements and inserting new ones into the text, are also capable of producing humor and of showing points of view and ideological positions, showing that studies on referencing can not be restricted to the verbal dimension of texts.

Além de uma discussão teórica sobre a referenciação, foram analisadas quatro tiras de humor, retiradas de sites da internet. Assim, esta pesquisa aponta para a relevância assumida pelos elementos multissemióticos de referenciação na construção e interpretação das tiras de humor.
