The aim of this paper is to characterize entrepreneurial action through the different approaches to the study of entrepreneurship, analyzing them in light of the perspectives of prominent economists and behaviorists in this field. The concepts of synthesis studies in the field were investigated, based on the vision of Filion (1999b), which considers two main approaches: that of the pioneers in the field, the economists, who associate entrepreneur with innovation; and that of the psychologists, who emphasize behavioral aspects of this social agent. The points of view of various authors are included, to form the basis of the construction of the concept of entrepreneurial action. In conclusion, it is evidenced that both economists and behaviorists place entrepreneurial action at the heart of entrepreneurship. Taking up various concepts, it becomes clear that the alternative approach to the phenomenon involves shifting the focus from subject to action. This was demonstrated by the recovery of different approaches from relevant authors of the past, and modern-day authors.
