Resumo: The present article has as its object the historical process of realizing gender equality through the struggle, in the foreground, for the vote and, later, for the female political participation, through electoral processes, to culminate in the effective election of women for the positions elective audiences, as a way of strengthening the democratic regime in our country. The method of doctrinal and legal analysis was used, as well as information and data provided by the specialized media and official organs of the State. It is also noteworthy that, in the last elections, it was only possible to reach the minimum level defined by law, well below the proper parity.

Empregou-se o método de análise doutrinária e legal, bem como de informações e dados fornecidos pela mídia especializada e órgãos oficiais do Estado.
