VISIONES HISTÓRICAS DEL CARIBE: entre la mirada imperial y las resistencias de los subalternos

Neste artigo se examina a produção intelectual sobre o Caribe a partir da perspectiva dos grandes temas que tem organizado ou articulado a historiografia acerca da região. A este respeito, se argue que a historiografia do Caribe pode ser compreendida a partir de quatro eixos temáticos ou narrativos: 1) a geopolítica, 2) o problema do desenvolvimento/a dependência econômica, 3) a questão da identidade e 4) as resistências. Tenta-se vincular o surgimento e a evolução de cada um destes temas com os processos econômicos, sociais, políticos e culturais que tem incidido sobre os países do Caribe desde a era da Conquista até a época contemporânea.ABSTRACT This article studies the intelectual prodution on the Caribbean from the perspective of the great themes that have articulated its historiography. It argues that have articulated its historiography. It argues that Caribbean historiography could be conceived in terms of four thematic or narrative axis: 1) geopolitcs 2) the problem of economic development/dependence, 3) the question of identity, and 4) the resistances of the subalterns. The emergence and evolution of each one of these themes is interrelated with the economic, social, political and cultural processes that have influenced the Caribbean countries since the Conquest to the contempory era.
