Resumo: | The study aimed to analise the learning of science and technology content on the nano-scale by high school students starting from a teaching unit built through theatrical activities as a tool for the teaching-learning process. By using the qualitative approach in all stages, the data were analised according to the five techniques found in Teatro do Oprimido, developed by the Brazilian playwright Augusto Boal, in the perspective of attending a particular social need experienced by the author in different situations and countries, having as objective to associate theater and social activities in an ideology of education as a synonym for freedom. The techniques applied in this study in order to elaborate the plays include: Theatrical News, Theatrical Court, Theatrical Picture, Invisible Theater and Legislative Theater. The subjects that participated in the research were teachers and students from a state school and the data collecting method was through a questionnaire applied to the students and teachers and a teaching unit carried out with the students. The results revealed that although nanotechnologies are present in everyday life, the students had little knowledge related to science and nano-scale technology, even though its products are daily in use. The techniques used in the development of the theatrical plays have shown to be difficult to the teachers and students. The content reviewed by the Science, Technology and Society approach and using theatrical plays have promoted critical reflexion about the scientific and technlogical products in an interactive and creative way, providing us with the development of the individuals involved. The students seemed motivated to study, learn and teach about science, showing that it’s possible to make science accessible to laypeople, putting knowledge in evidence as an utmost need for people’s survival and above all, to make a new democratised society based on science and technology. |

Utilizando a abordagem qualitativa em todas as etapas, os dados foram analisados de acordo com cinco técnicas da metodologia do Teatro do Oprimido, desenvolvidas pelo teatrólogo Augusto Boal, que as utilizou na perspectiva de atender uma determinada necessidade social vivenciada por ele em diferentes situações e em diferentes países, tendo como objetivo aliar o teatro com ações sociais, a partir de uma concepção de educação como sinônimo de liberdade. As técnicas utilizadas neste trabalho, na elaboração das peças teatrais, contemplaram: Teatro Jornal, Teatro Fórum, Teatro Imagem, Teatro do Invisível e Teatro Legislativo. Os sujeitos participantes da pesquisa foram professores e alunos de uma escola pública estadual e os instrumentos de coleta de dados foram questionários, aplicados a professores e alunos, e uma sequência de atividades desenvolvidas com os alunos. Os resultados revelaram que, embora as nanotecnologias estejam presentes no cotidiano da população, os estudantes tinham pouco conhecimento relativo à ciência e à tecnologia em escala nanométrica, embora seus produtos estivessem em uso no cotidiano deles. As técnicas utilizadas na construção das peças teatrais apresentaram-se desafiadoras para os docentes e os discentes. Os conteúdos estudados pela abordagem Ciência, Tecnologia e Sociedade (CTS) e utilizando peças teatrais promoveram o desenvolvimento de reflexões críticas acerca de produtos oriundos da ciência e da tecnologia, de forma interativa e criativa, proporcionando o desenvolvimento dos indivíduos envolvidos.
