Consumo alimentar e estado nutricional de pacientes portadores de insuficiência cardíaca

In Heart Failure (HF) there are several catabolic mechanisms involved that can lead to malnutrition if associated with inadequate nutrition. The patients affected by this syndrome, in general, do not reach the recommended nutritional needs. In this sense, it is aimed to verify the adequacy of food consumption and the relationship with the nutritional status of patients with heart failure hospitalized in a university hospital. A cross-sectional study was performed with 31 patients with HF. Health history, habitual food consumption, macro and micronutrient adequacy were evaluated according to nutritional recommendations, nutritional status and nutritional risk. Significant p <0.05 was considered significant. The mean age was 57.3 ± 15.7 years, predominance of male patients (80.6%), and 54.8% of residents of São Luís. The predominant etiology was of ischemic origin (25.8%), , followed by hypertension and valve disease, both with 22.5%. In the analysis of comorbidities 90.3% hypertensive and 42.0% diabetic. There was a prevalence of patients at nutritional risk (67.03%) and 19.3% presented low weight. The analysis of food consumption revealed inadequacy in all analyzed nutrients. It was possible to identify that the dietary intake of patients with HF is inadequate in all analyzed nutrients and may have reflected a high nutritional risk index and a considerable number of patients with low weight during hospitalization.
