This dissertation analyzes the possibility of applying the DEAR MAN skills of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) in conflict mediation processes carried out at the Center for Restorative Justice of the Integrated Center for Juvenile Justice (Centro Integrado de Justiça Juvenil - CIJJUV). To achieve the aforementioned objective, initially, it studies the creation of the concept of adolescence, characterizes the group as socially vulnerable and outlines considerations on the evolution of the rights of children and adolescents in the national legal system and in international human rights standards, as well as it points out risk factors for the practice of infractions, it verifies the updated profile of adolescents in compliance with socioeducational measures in the State of Maranhão and points out the need for a critical approach to the institutionalization culture of young people in conflict with the Law. deals with the mediation of conflicts, from the different models of legal interpretation and its relationship with the construction of adequate practices for the treatment of conflicts, and with the Restorative Juvenile Justice, based on the relevant normative frameworks and on the critical criminological understanding of the social reaction to the offense. It continuously comments on DBT, the relevance of its application to adolescents, the possibility of developing skills through a coach proposed in the scope of theory and the group of effectiveness skills in the objectives represented by the mnemonic DEAR MAN. In the subsequent chapter, it outlines reflections on the methodological process adopted throughout this work, which uses the methodological strategies of action research and discourse analysis. Finally, it verifies the possibility of using DEAR MAN skills in Juvenile Restorative Justice, based on the methodology of action-research, from the realization of focus groups with the facilitators responsible for the restorative processes of the CIJJUV Restorative Justice Center. It concludes that the application of DEAR MAN is not completely compatible with existing methods, given that this technique provides for the development of skills that do not occur naturally in restorative processes as a direct consequence.
