Da consciência psíquica à consciência moral: uma perspectiva acerca do pensamento de Friedrich Nietzsche entre 1878 e 1887

This dissertation undertakes a investigation into the configuration of the genealogy of moral consciousness in Nietzsche's writings, focusing on the fruitful period between 1878 and 1887, marked by the production of the philosopher's fundamental works. The research outlines three specific objectives: i) to examine the trajectory of the genealogy of moral consciousness; ii) to explore the dilemma of values in the genealogy of moral consciousness; iii) to present an interpretation of the “animal that promises” in the vivisection of consciousness. This study is interdisciplinary, bridging Philosophy and Psychology, aligned with Research Line 1 - Expressions and Sociocultural Processes, as well as with the study group in Affectivity Theory and Philosophy of Psychologies, developed since undergraduate studies and extended to the Graduate Program in Culture and Society. Regarding methodology, this research adopts a qualitative approach, grounded in the interpretation and attribution of meaning to bibliographic sources related to the study object. These sources exclusively consist of books and articles covering the aforementioned analyzed period. To delimit our approach, we choose to focus our analysis on some of Nietzsche’s key works produced during this time interval. The highlighted works include: Human, All Too Human I (1878), The Gay Science (1882), Beyond Good and Evil (1886), and Genealogy of Morals (1887). The employed methods prioritize in-depth reading procedures and critical analysis. Throughout the research development, a detailed mapping of the genealogy of moral consciousness is conducted, highlighting conceptual transformations and crucial points outlined by Nietzsche. The understanding of the dilemma of values is deepened, exploring the historical origin and contingent nature of moral judgments. The interpretation of the “animal that promises” emerges as a crucial element in the vivisection of consciousness, shedding light on the complex dynamics between promise, forgetfulness, and moral construction. This study significantly contributes to a deeper understanding of Nietzschean philosophy, offering a comprehensive analysis of the selected period. By unveiling the genealogy of moral consciousness, the aim is not only to expand academic knowledge about Nietzsche but also to provoke critical reflections on the ethical and moral foundations that underpin our understanding of humanity.
