he world of work, and especially, the laws of work, has been through extensive reforms that compromise worker's access to the formal labor market. In this study, we seek to answer the following problem: as the process of creating and destruction of formal jobs in the Northeast 2001 to 2018 is based, based on the flow of jobs from the perspective of demand (firms), with support in the Theoretical-methodological reference initially developed by Davis and Haltiwanger (1992). In view of this, the present research aims to analyze the dynamics of the flow of formal jobs in the Northeast and some of its determinants. The research also analyzes the flow of jobs by sectors, sizes of establishments and economic cycle, as well as identifying patterns and intraregional disparities between the Northeastern States. Among the main results found in the survey, two distinct moments can be cited, the peak period between 2001 and 2010 and the period of decline between 2011 and 2018. In the peak period, the Public Administration was the sector More created formal jobs, while in the period of decline the service sector was the largest creator. Micro-enterprises are more resilient to the oscillations of the economic cycle. Among the results, it has also been observed that states with smaller economies can be borne in the gross and net job creation process in relation to the large states, being Maranhão, for example, is one of the states of great prominence in the flow of jobs in both periods. In addition, gross and net job creation has strong sensitivity to gross domestic product movement.
