EPISTEMOLOGY AND PSYCHOLOGY IN WILHELM WINDELBAND’S EARLY NEO-KANTIANISM

Resumo: This article reconstructs the central arguments of “OnCertainty”, a text published in 1873 by the neo-Kantian philosopher Wilhelm Windelband. Literature claims that this text represents an early phase of neo-Kantianism, characterized by a psychologistic tendency. Against thisinterpretation, we show that Windelband already presents in “On Certainty” a conception of logic as a variety of transcendental logic, namely, as the science of the normative laws of thinking. Through this reconstruction, we provide the basis for an alternative interpretation of the transformation of neo-Kantianism between 1870 and 1880 in respect to the one offered by Klaus Christian Köhnke.

La literatura especializada afirma queesta obra es representativa de una fase temprana del neokantismo, caracterizada por una tendencia psicologista. Por nuestra parte, mostraremos que Windelband ya presenta en este texto una interpretación de la lógica entendida como lógica transcendental y como ciencia de las leyes normativas del pensar.
