Resumo: The main purpose of this paper is to know the expectations and experiences of the teachers who visited the Museu Ciência e Vida during its first years of activities.  Based on Wagensberg and Melguizo, besides the research of cultural habits of the population of Duque de Caxias, we investigated teacher’s practice of visitation to museums, also considering the antecedents of the visit, teacher’s opinion, demographic and sociocultural profile. The challenges imposed by these visits were discussed to optimize communication with this segment of public, making the Museum a socially more inclusive space. The findings of the research are motivating and surprising, since it was evident that the teachers feel contemplated with the educational activities offered by the Museu Ciência e Vida.

Teniendo Wagensberg y Melguizo como telón de fondo y contextualizando el análisis de hábitos culturales de la población local de Duque de Caxias, se investigó la práctica de visitación a museos por parte de los docentes que han  pasado por esta institución, considerando también los antecedentes de la visita, opinión, perfil demográfico y sociocultural. Se cuestionaron los desafíos impuestos por estas visitas a fin de optimizar la comunicación con este público específico, haciendo del museo un espacio socialmente más inclusivo. Los resultados de la investigación son motivadores y sorprendentes, ya que dejan claro que los docentes se sienten contemplados con las actividades educativas ofrecidas por el Museo Ciencia y Vida.Conhecer as expectativas e vivências dos professores que visitaram o Museu Ciência e Vida durante seus primeiros anos de atividades foi a principal motivação para a pesquisa desenvolvida, cujos achados são apresentados e discutidos neste artigo. Tendo Wagensberg e Melguizo como pano de fundo, contextualizado com auxílio da pesquisa de hábitos culturais dos moradores de Duque de Caxias, investigou-se a prática de visitação a museus do professor que esteve nesta instituição, considerando também os antecedentes da visita, a opinião do professor, bem como seu perfil demográfico e sociocultural. Problematizaram-se os desafios impostos por estas visitas a fim de otimizar a comunicação com esse segmento de público, tornando o Museu um espaço socialmente mais inclusivo. Os achados da pesquisa são motivadores e surpreendentes, visto que ficou evidente que os professores se sentem contemplados com as atividades educativas oferecidas pelo Museu Ciência e Vida.
