Summary: The mineral exploration in Caeté, Minas Gerais, throughout the 18th century made possible the construction of the Mother Church of Nossa Senhora do Bom Sucesso which during the 19th century received works of paintings covering the ceiling of the nave and sacristy. In this sense the present article aims to analyze the history, shape and iconographic of the paintings of the Mother Church of Caeté. It is also intended to study the disappeared painting that covered the high chapel ceiling that was duly recorded by photographs and described in documentation capable of explaining fragments of its formal composition and history. The results of this research will allow to remember essential elements about the art that adorns the Caeteense temple.

The results of this research will allow to remember essential elements about the art that adorns the Caeteense temple.La búsqueda de metales preciosos en la ciudad de Caeté, Minas Gerais, durante el siglo XVIII, hizo posible la construcción de la Matriz de Nossa Senhora do Bom Sucesso, que durante el siglo XIX estuvo adornada con obras pictóricas que cubren el techo de la nave central y sacristía. En este sentido, este texto tiene como objetivo hacer el análisis histórico, formal e iconográfico de las pinturas de la iglesia Matriz de Caeté. También se pretende estudiar la pintura que falta en la capilla mayor, debidamente registrada en fotografías y documentación que explican fragmentos de su composición formal y su trayectoria histórica. Los resultados obtenidos en esta investigación permitirán recordar elementos esenciales sobre el arte que adorna el templo caeteense.A exploração mineral na cidade de Caeté, Minas Gerais, ao longo do século XVIII, proporcionou a construção da Matriz de Nossa Senhora do Bom Sucesso, que no decorrer dos anos oitocentos foi adornada com obras pictóricas que recobrem o forro da nave e sacristia. Nesse sentido, este texto tem como orientação realizar a análise histórica, formal e iconográfica das pinturas da igreja Matriz de Caeté. Intenciona-se, também, estudar a desaparecida pintura que recobria a capela-mor, devidamente registrada em fotografias e documentação passíveis de deslindar fragmentos importantes de sua composição formal e percurso histórico.
