Invisible, visible: The Representation of the Immaterial in the Works Questions and Popular Poetics by Abigail Reyes

Resumo: This paper includes preliminary analysis of the artworks Questions (2021) and Poéticas populares (2016-2021) by the Salvadoran artist Abigail Reyes. The objective of the paper is to analyze the relationships of the works with the urban space, be it in the American or Latin American context, and its reverberations in the collective memory and in the understanding of the territory and the social fabric. For this, Questions (2021) and Poéticas populares (2016-2021) will be described probably from the records of the same and fragments of interviews with the artist. In turn, the works are analyzed in the light of decolonial studies with authors such as Adolfo Alban Achinte, Ramón Grosfoguel and Nelson Maldonado-Torres as well as Memory Studies. Finally, relationships are found between Questions (2021) and Poéticas populares (2016-2021) and their reverberation with the urban territory.

El presente trabajo recoge análisis preliminares en las obras Questions (2021) y Poéticas populares de la artista salvadoreña Abigail Reyes. El objetivo del trabajo es analizar las relaciones de las obras con el espacio urbano sea este en el contexto estadounidense o latinoamericano y sus reverberaciones en la memoria colectiva y en la comprensión del territorio y del tejido social. Para ello se describen brevemente las obras a partir de los registros de las  mismas y fragmentos de entrevistas de la artista, las obras se analizan  a la luz de los estudios decoloniales con autores como Walter Mignolo, Alban Achinte y Ramón Grosfoguel. Finalmente se encuentran relaciones entre las dos obras y su reverberación con el territorio urbano.  Este artigo inclui análises preliminares das obras Questions (2021) e Poéticas populares (2016-2021) da artista salvadorenha Abigail Reyes. O objetivo do trabalho é analisar as relações das obras com o espaço urbano, seja no contexto americano ou latino-americano, e suas reverberações na memória coletiva e na compreensão do território e do tecido social. Para isso, serão descritas as obras prováveis a partir dos registros das mesmas e fragmentos de entrevistas com a artista. Por sua vez, as obras são analisadas à luz dos estudos decoloniais com autores como Adolfo Alban Achinte, Ramón Grosfoguel e Nelson Maldonado-Torres, bem como dos estudos da memória.
