Resumo: The objective of this paper is to analyze the first five editions of the Ouro Preto's Winter Festival, a university project of extension organized by Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG) since 1967. More specifically, our interest is the tension relationship or the reciprocal reinforcement defined in this event between its festive and cultural, artistic and recreational, cultural and entertainmental dimensions. In this sense, despite the criticism that the festive dimension received at that time, its success can be attributed, with no doubt, to its capability to combine, in an original and creative way, possibilities for fun, tourism, artistic enjoyment and university formation and graduation.

Mais especificamente, nos interessa as relações de tensão ou de reforço recíproco estabelecidas neste evento entre as suas dimensões festivas e culturais, artísticas e de lazer, culturais e de entretenimento.
