This paper will discuss the perceptions of local tourism agents, Nova Lima Tourism Secretariat and Nova Lima Civil Defense on tourism disaster management in the São Sebastião das Águas Claras district and the impact on local tourism due to the threat B3 / B4 tailings dam by mining company Vale AS. A discussion was made on disaster concepts, the role of Civil Defense in risk and disaster management, disaster risk reduction in tourism and the collaboration of stakeholders. In order to achieve the research objectives, from interviews conducted in the field, we sought to understand the impacts caused by tourism by the threat of dam disruption in the district. It was also discussed which preventive measures were adopted by the governmental authorities and Vale S.A company. In addition, the collaboration between stakeholders was discussed as a way to reduce impacts on tourism. In conclusion, it was observed that the perception of local tourism agents conflicts with the perceptions of public agencies and that tourism disaster management in the district was not and has not been effective.
