Resumo: The article shows the concept of Slow Travel, a travel’s modality based in a new perspective of touristic use considering a slowdown style. In this way, the paper analyses the context of growing and development about Slow Travel, including its ideological matrix based in industrial revolution’s contestation, specially about the acceleration noted at contemporary society and its application inside the leisure and travel universes. At least, shows the main characteristics of Slow Travel, and its perspectives of development, mainly in Brazil.

Se pretende, por lo tanto, promover una discusíon acerca del contexto de la aparición de este fenómeno y de su matriz ideológica de impugnación a los valores industriales, sobre todo ante la aceleración desenfrenada de la sociedad moderna y su aplicación en el mundo del ocio y los viajes. Finalmente, se presentan sus principales características, la evolución y las perspectivas para el desarrollo, especialmente en Brasil.O presente artigo apresenta o conceito Slow Travel, uma modalidade de viagem baseada em uma nova perspectiva de aproveitamento turístico pautado em um ritmo mais cadenciado, profundo e qualificado de visitação. Pretende-se, assim, discutir o contexto de surgimento deste fenômeno e sua matriz ideológica pautada na contestação dos valores industriais, especialmente à aceleração desmedida da sociedade moderna, além de sua aplicação ao universo do lazer e das viagens.
