Resumo: This paper aims to examine the role and possibilities of tourism and leisure in education, rehabilitation and promotion of cultural heritage in rural São Paulo historic farms, as one of the modalities of sociocultural animation. This process was conducted based on the methodology of oral history where the heritage is explored as an educational tourist area within the field of non-formal education, adult and facing the elderly public. This study contributes to a reflection in the field of non-formal education not as an alternative to schooling, but as an integral part of the discussion of free time and leisure as a field of non-formal education that continues to exist throughout the life of the individual.

Este proceso se llevó a cabo sobre la base de la metodología de la historia oral en el que el patrimonio es explorado como una área turística educativa en el campo de la educación no formal, de adultos y de cara al público de edad avanzada. Este estudio contribuye a una reflexión en el ámbito de la educación no formal no como una alternativa a la enseñanza, sino como una parte integral de la discusión del tiempo libre y el ocio como un campo de la educación no formal que sigue existiendo en toda la vida del individuo.Este artigo tem por objetivo analisar o papel e as possibilidades da atividade turística e de lazer na educação, reabilitação e promoção do patrimônio cultural rural em fazendas históricas paulistas, como uma das modalidades da animação sociocultural. Esse processo foi realizado a partir da metodologia da História Oral onde o patrimônio é explorado como espaço turístico educacional dentro do campo da educação não formal, voltado para o público adulto e idoso.
