Resumo: This essay stems from reflections on a case study carried out between 2019 and 2021 with a family living in the backlands of the state of Pernambuco. At first, agroecological practices were adopted by the family in order to get around the scarcity of water in the region, in order to "plant water", in their words. In this system, the presence and work of bees is necessary for the productivity, maintenance and reproduction of the plants, as well as to promote the diversity of species that inhabit the place. In this scenario, we propose to observe encounters, negotiations and care relationships between bees and humans. To this end, we used ethnographic walks with family members on the site in question, participant observation and unstructured interviews during the field research period.

En un primer momento, las prácticas agroecológicas fueron adoptadas por la familia para sortear la escasez de agua en la región, para "sembrar agua", en sus palabras. En este sistema, la presencia y el trabajo de las abejas son necesarios para la productividad, el mantenimiento y la reproducción de las plantas, así como para promover la diversidad de especies que habitan el lugar. En este escenario, nos proponemos observar encuentros, negociaciones y relaciones de cuidado entre abejas y humanos. Para ello, utilizamos caminatas etnográficas con familiares en el sitio en cuestión, observación participante y entrevistas no estructuradas durante el período de investigación de campo.Este ensaio decorre de reflexões suscitadas a partir de um estudo de caso realizado com uma família que vive no sertão do estado de Pernambuco. A princípio, as práticas agroecológicas foram adotadas pela família com o intuito de contornar a escassez de água da região, de maneira a “plantar água”, nas palavras deles. Nesse sistema, a presença e o trabalho das abelhas são necessários para produtividade, manutenção e reprodução das plantas, bem como para a diversidade de espécies que habitam o local.
