Innovation, organizational learning and absorption capacity: Evidências em escolas públicas integrais

This study aimed to analyze how full-time public schools – furthered by organizational learning and absorptive capacity – are innovating high school education in the state of Pernambuco. The methodology used in this work was multiple case studies and investigated the three most outstanding full-time public schools in the state of Pernambuco. Data have shown that most of the innovations applied are incremental. The study also found different levels of learning, which have developed through processes of sharing experience, effective communicative process, peer socialization, collective integration and partnerships. These processes are interconnected with the absorptive capacity– whose dimensions and processes are evident in the three organizations –, which greatly fosters the development of innovative practices. The study concluded that the innovations in full-time schools in the state of Pernambuco are furthered by organizational learning and absorptive capacity.
