This study analyzes the relationship of socioeconomic, demographic and sociopolitical factors in public health spending in the cities of Mato Grosso do Sul in the period 2010-2018. The collected data were analyzed with panel data modeling. The population is made up of the 79 municipalities of Mato Grosso do Sul, using the dependent variable the public expenditure on municipal health and as determinants the electoral years, the population, local GDP, number of beds and number of doctors. Among the results it can be observed that the municipal election year, GDP, beds have no explanatory capacity for health spending, however the general election year, the population and number of doctors in the SUS were statistically significant in the cities of Mato Grosso do Sul. It is noteworthy that the study on the relationship between public spending on health can improve cost allocation and resource use in health services, as a way to provide greater efficiency in meeting social demands.
