Resumo: This paper examines the relationship between gender, age and education level with activities and rejection factors of internet use. Through a literature review and secondary data from Comunication and Information Technology Studies Center (CETIC), it was verified that the selected sociodemographic variables represent an incomplete source to understand internet use. By means of management and public policy action, it is suggested to rethink the way that this phenomenon should be framed. That is, it is understood that focus should go to cognitive factors.

Por meio de revisão de literatura e dados secundários disponibilizados pelo Centro de Estudos sobre as Tecnologias da Informação e Comunicação (CETIC) foi possível verificar que esses aspectos sociodemográficos representam fonte incompleta para entendimento do uso da Internet. Do ponto de vista de práticas de gestão e de políticas públicas, sugere-se a necessidade de repensar a forma com que o fenômeno de uso da Internet deve ser enquadrado.
