This article is a case study of the treatment carried out in one of the special collections of the Medicine Memory Center (Cememor) of the University of Minas Gerais (UFMG). The collection is composed of inaugural medical theses, dating from the 19th to the 20th centuries. Containing scientific research on the health field published in Brazil since the 19th century, these theses have considerable historical relevance, thus contributing to the preservation of records on the trajectory of Medicine in the country. The main objective of the research was the organization of the ancient theses of Cememor. The specific objectives were: to apply preventive conservation techniques to the collection; create instruments to enable the recovery of this collection in the Pergamum System of UFMG; provide more visibility for the collection and for Cememor, as the main responsible for the management of health memory objects at the University. The results demonstrate a new organization and improved visibility of the collection of inaugural theses.
