The educational reforms and the policies of teacher training in Brazil: the way for its commercialization

This article presents the main structural and ideo-political foundations that act on the course of teacher education in Brazil whose implications result in the process of its commercialization. Our bibliographic and documental research establishes the relationship between the guidelines of the Education for All Movement (EFA) and the Brazilian educational reforms, highlighting their unfolding in teacher education policies. Next, we collect data from the Higher Education Census, verifying how this process is related to the increasing commodification in the field of teacher education. The analysis sought in Marxist theory the categories to better understand the mediations and contradictions of the reciprocal movement between the historical particularity and the totality in which the object is inserted. We find in the documents of the Brazilian state the reaffirmation of the premises of the Education for All (EFA) movement, which, in turn, is in line with the neoliberal project assumed by the ruling classes of Brazil. In this we find that the configuration of teacher education at the beginning of this century is part of the growing logic of dismantling the public-state sphere, especially in Higher Education, determined by private interest.
