Mass incarceration and necropolitics: worsening of the prision crisis in the COVID-19 pandemic

Resumo: | Considering the collapse of the Brazilian prison system in a context of crisis of capitalism, deepened by the pandemic of the new-coronavirus, this article aimed to investigate the relationship between the current economic system, mass incarceration and the prison crisis evidenced by the pandemic. Based on the perspective of Critical Criminology, bibliographic, documentary and descriptive research was carried out, in order to problematize the limits of criminal law, bourgeois democracy and politics itself. Taking into account the analysis carried out, the results point that the pandemic reinforces the crisis that already exists in the Brazilian prison system, indicating the urgent need to establish a criminal law of and for the subordinate classes, since the current framework serves as a mechanism that accentuates the exclusion, the oppression and extermination of a certain class and race within capitalist society. |

Com base na perspectiva da Criminologia Crítica,realizou-se pesquisa de cunho bibliográfico, documental e descritivo, tendo em vista problematizar os limites do direito penal, da democracia burguesa e da própria política.
