This research in the Social History of Psychology produces a historical narrative about the undergraduate course of Psychology at the Faculdades Unidas Católicas de Mato Grosso (FUCMT). It considers social and documental memories as sociocultural constructs; thus, it uses textual and oral sources to produce such narrative. Our results point out that this undergraduate course was related to the demand of ‘modernization’ of the city of Campo Grande through the development of Higher Education. In addition to this, it met social, economic, and political demands of West expansion promoted by the military regime at the time. This course was operationalized through an idiosyncratic curriculum with an emphasis on Education. In conclusion, this paper contributes to identifying and preserving memories of Psychology in one of the first undergraduate courses in the state, extending knowledge on the general history of Psychology in the country.
