Freud and Fliess: considerations on an imaginary supervision

Resumo: The following text presents a historical and theoretical research about some aspects of the period of elaboration of Psychoanalysis by Sigmund Freud. The intriguing relationship between Freud and Fliess is analyzed based on the following question: how did it contribute to the creation of Psychoanalysis? Certainly, the role of Fliess is of a friend and interlocutor, as well as, some may say, an analyst “avant la lettre”. Even though all these answers converge, in this text another possibility is proposed: Fliess as Freud’s imaginary supervisor. The complete correspondence from Freud to Fliess is analyzed, in addition to specific passages from some of Freud’s biographies and texts by scholars who addressed the theme.

Abordou-se especificamente a intrigante relação entre Freud e Fliess, a partir da seguinte pergunta: qual foi o papel dessa relação para a criação da Psicanálise? Certamente, o lugar de Fliess é o de amigo, interlocutor e, alguns diriam, um analista “avant la lettre”. Neste texto discute-se a possibilidade de se considerar Fliess o supervisor imaginário de Freud.
