Resumo: This is a qualitative study that had the objective of to know the perception of mothers about a program for asthmatic children called "A Criança que Chia" after the implementation of the Family Health Program at the São Paulo Health Center in Belo Horizonte, MG. Fifteen mothers were interviewed. The results showed that after the implementation of the Family Health Program the health care improved and the child´s asthmatic crises decreased. Furthermore, they reported that it is not necessary to go to the emergency service as frequent as usual; the health care is faster and easier; there is a trustful relationship between them and the health professionals and they feel more involved in their child´s treatment.

Participaron del estudio 15 madres de niños asmáticos que frecuentan el programa. Los resultados muestran que para las madres mejoró la atención a los niños después de la implantación del PSF, pues percibieron que las crisis de asma fueron más espaciadas. Disminuyeron las idas a los servicios de urgencia, no encontraron mayores obstáculos en el servicio para ser atendidas; existe una relación de confianza con los equipos del PSF, en fin, ellas se sienten involucradas en el tratamiento de sus hijos.Trabalho de natureza qualitativa que teve por objetivo conhecer a percepção das mães sobre o programa de asma ("Criança que Chia"), após a implantação do Programa Saúde da Família (PSF) no Centro de Saúde São Paulo, Belo Horizonte-MG. Participaram do estudo 15 mães de crianças asmáticas que freqüentam o programa.
