Resumo: | In recent years information has become important as a strategy and tool for knowledge in the world order. This article shows the history of scientific journals, describing the setting up of one of them, the Revista Mineira de Enfermagem – REME, and the stages of the editorial process. It discusses the criteria used by the consultants in analyzing the articles and indicates the main difficulties of the editorial process, printing and distribution of the journal. It also reports some aspects of the restructuring project that was implemented as experienced by the team that runs the journal, as well as the promising outlook and the potential for dissemination of scientific knowledge in the context of Brazilian nursing. |

Este estudio cuenta la historia de los periódicos científicos y describe cómo se creó uno de ellos: la Revista de Enfermería de Minas Gerais - REME y las etapas del proceso editorial. Menciona los criterios empleados por los consultores para analizar los artículos y señala los principales problemas inherentes al proceso editorial, publicación y distribución de la revista. También describe algunos aspectos del proyecto de reestructuración realizado por el equipo de trabajo del periódico, así como las perspectivas futuras de difusión del conocimiento científico en el contexto de enfermería brasileña.A informação tem assumido, nos últimos anos, um papel destacado como estratégia e ferramenta de conhecimento na ordem mundial. Este artigo apresenta a história do surgimento dos periódicos científicos, descrevendo a criação de um deles, a Revista Mineira de Enfermagem - REME e as etapas do processo de editoração. Discorre sobre os critérios utilizados para a análise dos artigos pelos consultores e aponta as principais dificuldades inerentes ao processo de editoração, impressão e distribuição dessa revista.
