How prenatal care is seen by pregnant women

Resumo: This article shows part of the results of a qualitative study carried out to understand the evaluation of prenatal care from the point of view of pregnant women in a public basic healthcare unit. It was based on the principle that the pregnant woman who looks for assistance has some knowledge and experiences, hopes to be respected in her uniqueness and wishes to contribute to build quality in the care provided in public health services. In order to reach the objectives, a semi-structured interview was used. An analysis of the statements by the group studied showed that pregnant women wish to be cared for considering their organic problems and also those arising from real life situations, such as those relating to their condition as women.

Se fundamentó en el principio de que la mujer embarazada que busca atención aporta conocimientos y experiencias, espera ser respetada en sus particularidades y tiene interés en contribuir a la construcción de la calidad de la asistencia en los servicios públicos de salud. Para alcanzar los objetivos fue utilizada la entrevista semiestructurada como instrumental metodológico. El análisis de las manifestaciones del grupo estudiado mostró que la mujer embarazada tiene la expectativa de ser atendida considerando sus problemas orgánicos y también aquéllos determinados por situaciones concretas de la vida, como los relacionados a su condición femenina.Este artigo apresenta parte dos resultados de um estudo qualitativo desenvolvido com objetivo de conhecer a avaliação da assistência pré-natal na visão de mulheres gestantes usuárias de uma unidade básica de saúde. Fundamentou-se no princípio de que a mulher grávida que procura atendimento traz consigo conhecimentos e experiências, espera ser respeitada em suas singularidades e tem interesse em contribuir para a construção da qualidade da assistência nos serviços públicos de saúde. Para o alcance dos objetivos foi utilizada a entrevista semi-estruturada como instrumental metodológico.
