Resumo: This study's main objective was to identify primary care nurses' knowledge about the Integrated Management of Childhood Illness and Comprehensive Child Care strategies in the municipality of Aracaju-SE. The data were collected through a questionnaire containing 20 closed-ended and multiple-choice questions. The data was tabulated and filled in Excel 2007 and analyzed using "Statistic Package for the Social Sciences" 13.0 version. Descriptive and analytical criterions were used with a quantitative approach. The obtained results suggested there is no significant difference (p > 0.05) betwe en trained (54.5%) and not trained (45.5%) nurses in the strategy and the knowledge profile was less than expected. In conclusion, training and protocol supervision of childhood prevalent illnesses are necessary to primary care nurses.

Los datos fueron recogidos através de una encuesta con 20 preguntas cerradas de opción múltiple, tabulados y archivados en Excel 2007 y analizados en el programa Statistical Package for the Social Sciences, versión 13.0. Fueron utilizados criterios investigativos y descriptivos con enfoque cuantitativo. Los resultados obtenidos señalan que no hay diferencia significativa (p > 0, 05) entre los enfermeros capacitados (54, 5%) y los que no son capacitados (45, 5%) por la estrategia, verificándose un perfil de conocimiento por debajo de lo esperado. Queda clara lanecesidad de capacitar a los enfermeros de atención básica y de supervisar el protocolo de enfermedades prevalentes en la infancia.O objetivo com este estudo foi identificar o conhecimento dos enfermeiros da atenção básica quanto à estratégia da Atenção Integral às Doenças Prevalentes da Infância, no município de Aracaju-SE. Os dados foram coletados por meio de um questionário, contendo 20 questões fechadas e de múltipla escolha, tabulados e arquivados no Excel 2007 e analisados no programa Statistical Package for the Social Sciences, versão 13.0. Foram utilizados critérios investigativos e descritivos, com abordagem quantitativa. Os resultados obtidos apontam não haver diferença significativa (p > 0, 05) entre os enfermeiros capacitados (54, 5%) e não capacitados (45, 5%) pela estratégia, verificando-se um perfil de conhecimento aquém do esperado.
