Therapeutic touch: using a computer database to analyze the knowledge production

Resumo: Therapeutic Touch is a contemporan interpretation of many ancient healing practices. The purpose of this study was to accomplish a survey of the existent literature, analyzing reference index, publication year and type. CINAHL, MEDLINE and LILACS were searched. The MEDLINE search verified the language and country of publication. The publications were registered in individual files and because of their number (492) they were inserted in a computer database for analysis. 352 publications were indexed in CINAHL, 139 in MEDLINE and 02 in LILACS. The most frequent type was "journal article". The most used language was english (126) and the publication country was USA (97). The high number of publications about Therapeutic Touch in a recent period can justify the interest for nurses in knowing their basics, how it works and the outcomes of its application.

Esto estudio tievo por objeto hacer un levantamiento de las publicaciones analizandolos cuantitivamente: el indice de referencia, tipo y año de las publicaciones, desde los indices CINAHL, MEDLINE y LILACS. Las publicaciones fueron resumidas en fichas individuales constituyendo una base de datos para analisis. El mayor número de las publicaciones estaban bajo el indice CINAHL; el tipo más obtenido fue "articulo" y el año com mayor número de publicaciones acerca del Toque Terapéutico en un período reciente puede justificar el interés de los enfermeros sobre este tema.Toque Terapêutico é uma interpretação contemporânea de diversas práticas antigas de cura. Este estudo teve por objetivo realizar levantamento das publicações, analisando quantitativamente índice de referência, tipo e ano das publicações, utilizando os índices CINAHL, MEDLINE e LILACS. As publicações foram registradas em fichas individuais sendo construída uma base de dados para análise. A maioria das publicações estavam indexadas no CINAHL, o tipo mais encontrado foi "artigo" e o ano com maior número de publicações foi 1995.
