Resumo: The growth of health service waste, in quantity and quality, has become a worldwide concern. Because of the specificity, this waste has been given special attention, because if they are not managed correctly, they may bring damage to the environment and public health. It is a descriptive exploratory study, which intends to analyze the management of health service waste of the Baixa Mogiana micro-region. Although a minority of the municipalities have an almost ideal management, most of them are far from it, which makes indispensable the use of measured to clear up or minimize the damage.

Por sus características los residuos de los servicios de salud vienen mereciendo atención especial: si no son bien gerenciados pueden causar daños al medio ambiente y a la salud pública. Se trata de un estudio descriptivo y exploratorio cuyo objetivo ha sido analizar la gestión integrada de los residuos de los servicios de salud de la microregión de la Baja Mogiana, MG. A pesar de haber una minoría de municipios que gestiona sus residuos de forma casi ideal la mayoría todavía está lejos de hacerlo. Por lo tanto, es imprescindible adoptar medidas para corregir o minimizar posibles agravaciones. Palabras chave: Gestión de residuos, residuos de servicios de salud.A crescente produção quantitativa e qualitativa dos resíduos constitui uma grande preocupação mundial. Pelas especificidades, os resíduos dos serviços de saúde têm merecido atenção especial, pois se não gerenciados corretamente, podem acarretar danos ao meio ambiente e saúde pública. Trata-se de um estudo descritivo e exploratório, que objetivou analisar o gerenciamento integrado dos resíduos dos serviços de saúde da Microrregião da Baixa Mogiana.
