Resumo: In mental health care, integrality aims to enable an initial contact of patients with mental suffering. It emphasizes the assistential service and the construction of full attention networks in mental health. This article aims to reflect about the concept of integrality and its application in mental health care. It also discusses the importance of integrality in the network of substitute mental health services as a means of promoting new ways of thinking about mental health. With this goal, it is necessary that healthcare professionals provide an integral assistance to the patients by sharing their experiences and stimulating the participation of the family and the community.

With this goal, it is necessary that healthcare professionals provide an integral assistance to the patients by sharing their experiences and stimulating the participation of the family and the community.La integralidad, dentro del campo de la salud mental, tiene por finalidad permitir el contacto y la acogida al sujeto en sufrimiento psíquico, sobre todo en el aspecto asistencial, para construir redes de atención integral en salud mental. Este estudio tiene por objetivo reflexionar sobre el principio de la integralidad y su inserción en el ámbito de la salud mental. Se debate también este principio en la red de servicios sustitutivos en salud mental como dispositivos indicadores de una nueva forma de pensar y de asistencia en salud mental. Es necesario que los profesionales de los servicios de salud dispensen atención integral a sus usuarios, compartiendo experiencias con participación de la familia y de la comunidad.A integralidade, no campo da saúde mental, visa permitir o contato e o acolhimento do sujeito em sofrimento psíquico, com destaque na vertente assistencial, para a construção de redes de atenção integral em saúde mental. O objetivo com este estudo é refletir sobre o princípio da integralidade e sua inserção na área da saúde mental. Também se discute sobre esse princípio na rede de serviços substitutivos em saúde mental como dispositivo indicador de uma nova maneira de pensar e de atenção em saúde mental.
