Heterosexual HIV transmission in twentieth century nursing literature: a qualitative approach

Resumo: This work was motivated by the progressive increase of HIV transmission in women. The objectives are to identify the thematic areas addressed in nursing publications on HIV heterosexual transmission, published from 1980 to 2000. It is a qualitative bibliographical study based on data collected from 133 national and international abstracts by nurses. Five thematic areas were found: epidemiological aspects, knowledge, risk perception, behavior and prevention. It was concluded that, over 20 years, the nurses were interested in understanding the specific characteristics of HIV transmission, highlighting the importance of the diversity of clients in order to achieve effectiveness in the actions.

Se trata de una investigación bibliográfica con enfoque cualitativo. Para el análisis fueran estudiados 133 resúmenes de publicaciones nacionales e internacionales de enfermeros. Se encontraron cinco áreas temáticas: aspectos epidemiológicos, conocimiento, percepción de riesgo, comportamiento y prevención. Se concluyó que en los 20 años estudiados los enfermeros se preocuparon por conocer las especificidades de la transmisibilidad del VIH por la vía heterosexual realzando la valoración de las diversidades de la clientela para obtener efectividad en las acciones.O progressivo aumento dos casos de transmissão do HIV em mulheres motivou este estudo que teve como objetivo identificar as áreas temáticas abordadas nas publicações de enfermagem sobre transmissão heterossexual do HIV no período de 1980 a 2000. Trata-se de uma pesquisa bibliográfica com abordagem qualitativa. Na análise, foram estudados 133 resumos de publicações, nacionais e internacionais, de trabalhos desenvolvidos por enfermeiros. Encontraram-se cinco áreas temáticas: aspectos epidemiológicos, conhecimento, percepção de risco, comportamento e prevenção.
