Planning: a nursing tool to optimize services

Resumo: This study intended to verify if the nurses plan their daily work; find out how the planning is carried out and identify the existence of gaps. It was carried out at a teaching hospital, with 47 nurses in charge of wards. The data was collected through questionnaires and descriptively analyzed. It was found that 95.74% of the nurses did work planning. Among these, 84.44% did it daily; 68.88% did it only mentally. For the planning stages, 95.56% of the nurses identify the service needs; 95.56% define priorities; 48.89% set goals; 8.,22% define the actions; 40% determine the time necessary to execute of the plan, 64.44% list the necessary material for the activities and 75.56% determine who will carry out the actions. With regard to the team involved in the planning, it was observed that 64.44% admit to participating very often, mainly in identifying the needs. Describing the planning by the nurses makes it possible to think about its use, effectiveness and optimization of nursing services.

La investigación fue realizada en un hospital escuela con cuarenta y siete enfermeros acargo de las unidades de internación. Los datos se recogieron concuestionarios y después se analizaron descriptivamente. Se comprobó que el 95,74% de los enfermeros planifica sus tareas. Entre ellos, el 84,4% lo hace diariamente y un 68,88 lo hace sólo mentalmente. En cuanto a las etapas de la planificación: el 95,56% de los enfermeros identifica las necesidades de trabajo; 95,56% define prioridades; 48,89% describe objetivos; 82,22% define acciones; 40% determina el tiempo necesario para ejecutar el trabajo; 64,44% lista el material necesario para la tareas por realizary 75,56% determina el ejecutor de la acción. Sobre la participación del equipo en la elaboración de la planificación se observó que el 64,44% admite participación frecuente, principalmente para identificar necesidades. Caracterizar la planificación realizada por los enfermeros permite reflexionar sobre el uso, eficacia y optimación de los servicios de enfermería.Buscou-se, com este estudo, verificar se o enfermeiro planeja o seu trabalho cotidiano, averiguar como o planejamento é realizado e identificar a existência de lacunas na sua elaboração. A pesquisa foi desenvolvida em um Hospital Escola, com 47 enfermeiros responsáveis pelas unidades de internação. Os dados foram coletados por meio de questionários e analisados descritivamente. Evidenciou-se que 95,74% dos enfermeiros realizam o planejamento do trabalho. Desses, 84,44% o fazem diariamente e 68,88% realizam-no apenas mentalmente. Quanto às etapas do planejamento, 95,56% dos enfermeiros identificam as necessidades do serviço; 95,56% definem prioridades; 48,89% descrevem objetivos; 82,22% definem as ações; 40% determinam o tempo necessário à execução do plano; 64,44% relacionam o material necessário para as atividades; e 75,56% determinam o executor da ação. Sobre a participação da equipe na elaboração do planejamento, observou-se que 64,44% admitem essa participação freqüentemente, principalmente na identificação das necessidades.
