Resumo: Trying to elucidate the social determinants of child hospital readmissions, we have carried this project with the objectives: a) to identify the factors related to living conditions and to the health services that contribute to the readmission, b) to determine the parents' understanding of the health/illness process of the readmitting child and c) to highlight the dialectics contradictions between the life and health conditions and the parents' representation on their child readmission. The results highlight the social determinants that relate to child readmission and the contradictions between their living conditions and the parents' representation about their child readmission observed in the interviews.

The results highlight the social determinants that relate to child readmission and the contradictions between their living conditions and the parents' representation about their child readmission observed in the interviews.Buscando aclarar los determinantes sociales de las reinternaciones infantiles se condució al presente estudio, con los objetivos que se siguen: identificar los determinantes de las reinternaciones de niños, relacionados con las condiciones de vida y con los servicios de salud; conocer las representaciones de los familiares acerca del processo salud-enfermedad del niño que vuelve a se internar y evidenciar las contradiciones existentes entre la realidad vivida y la representación de los familiares acerca del fenómeno de la reinternación infantil. Los resultados, en su esencia, muestran la determinación social de las reinternaciones y las contradiciones entre las reales condiciones de existencia desta población y las representaciones de las entrevistadas acerca del fenómeno.Buscando elucidar os determinantes sociais das reinternações infantis procedeu-se ao presente estudo, com os seguintes objetivos: identificar determinantes de reinternações de crianças, relacionados às suas condições de vida e aos serviços de saúde; conhecer as representações de familiares sobre o processo saúde-doença da criança que se reinterna, e evidenciar as contradições existentes entre a realidade vivida e a representação de familiares sobre o fenômeno da reinternação infantil.
