Resumo: Clinical research is a systematic study that follows scientific methods applicable to humans. The purpose of this study is to identify the contributions of clinical research for technological innovation in nursing. It is an operational integrative review study. Search was performed in Lilacs, Medline and BDENF databases, associated with manual search of publications. Areas with a significant number of articles were: Adult Health (44%) and Women Health (14%). Only 8% of the publications resulted in technological innovation, which is evidence of the poor contribution of clinical research to nursing scientific literature. In conclusion, the nursing scientific production is limited to soft and soft-hard technologies. Furthermore, the publications related to production and development of materials and equipment are incipient. It is important to emphasize the relevance of such publications since they allow acquisition, production and enhancement of knowledge.
