Resumo: Domestic accidents have become a significant problem, interfering in the development of the child and family life. The objective of this study is to reflect, not only on accidents in the home setting that affect children in the first years of life, but also, to make possible educational actions used in the recognition of the risk factors and preventive aspects. Therefore, an exploratory study was carried out through a bibliographical survey. Analysis shows that death was the most serious consequence, and the resulting physical, psychological and social consequences demanded a lot of care and high costs.

El objeto de este estudio es reflexionar no sólo acerca de los accidentes en el ambiente domiciliario con los niños en sus primeros años de la vida sino también poner en práctica acciones educativas que se basen en el reconocimiento de factores de riesgo y en aspectos preventivos. Se efectuó un estudio exploratorio utilizando como estrategia el levantamiento bibliográfico. En el análisis de datos se percibe que la muerte fue la consecuencia más seria y que las secuelas físicas, psicológicas y sociales exigieron ayuda y costes elevados.O acidente doméstico tornou-se um problema significativo, interferindo no desenvolvimento da criança e no seu convívio familiar. O objetivo deste estudo é refletir, não só sobre os acidentes em ambiente domiciliar que vêm acometendo crianças nos primeiros anos de vida, como também viabilizar ações educativas baseadas no reconhecimento dos fatores de risco e aspectos preventivos. Para tanto, realizou-se um estudo exploratório utilizando como estratégia o levantamento bibliográfico.
