Nursing assistance: an analysis of the guide lines of this practice

Resumo: In this study we aim at identifying the theoretic guide lines of nursing assistance, carried out by nurses. The data was collected in the months of may and June 1997, through semi-structured interviews. The material collected was submitted to techniques of analysis and the following categories showed up significance; total attention; aims; heath - illness process. The results brought to evidence the ideas that these nurses have about nursing assistance, emphasizing the activities which deal with promoting and recuperating health, as well as illness prevention. It was made clear that the total attention given to the patient, and the understanding of the socially determined health - illness process, were present as a background in the reports.

Los datos fueram recolectados en los meses de mayo y junio de 1997, utilizándose para ello la entrevista semiestructurada. El material fue sometido al análisis de contenido, donde emergieron las categorías: significación; atención integral; objetivos; proceso salud-enfermedad. Los resultados evidenciaron la concepción que estas profesionales presentan sobre la asistencia de enfermería, enfatizando las actividades de promoción y recuperación de la salud así como la prevención de la enfermedad. La atención integral al cliente y la comprensión del proceso salud-enfermedad determinado socialmente pasan como telón en los informes.Este estudo objetivou identificar as concepções teóricas norteadoras da assistência de enfermagem desenvolvida por enfermeiros. Os dados foram coletados nos meses de maio e junho de 1997, através da entrevista semi-estruturada. O material foi submetido à análise de conteúdo, emergindo as categorias: significado; atenção integral; objetivos; processo saúde-doença. Os resultados evidenciaram a concepção que estes profissionais apresentam sobre a assistência de enfermagem, enfatizando as atividades de promoção e recuperação da saúde bem como de prevenção da doença.
